2. On MLK day I caught up with one of my oldest friends over brunch at Parc. She is also a law student in Philly but goes to another school so we never see each other enough! We both ordered the poached eggs and asparagus with mushroom veloute. OUT OF THIS WORLD. The first time the eggs came out, mine were over-cooked to the point of being hardboiled, but the manager was very helpful and made me a new order and took my meal off the bill. My friend and I also went to Zahav for restaurant week on Wednesday and got amazing meal and more time together! Here's a pic from that dinner. I'm so thankful that I can call her one of my closest friend for over 10 years!
3. Confession: I put on the pounds last semester. Like 10 of them. So this semester, I'm not dieting as much as just watching what I eat. It's so easy to go various club meetings at school and get free pizza. To get my body back in shape I've been hitting up the Lithe Method. That gym is truly my guilty pleasure. It's so ridiculously expensive but the way I feel afterwards and the changes I see so quickly are 100% worth the expense. One day after class when I forgot my water bottle I picked up one of their signature juices. It was my first "green" juice and I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor but it was so refreshing that I'd probably try one again.
4. Later in the week, I went to an event sponsored by Gap Fit at Body Cycle Studio. The event was great because we were all given a free pair of Gap Fit pants! Afterwards we participated in a free spinning class. This was my first spinning class and I don't think I ever wanted to quit something so badly. I was sweating like crazy, my legs hurt, my butt hurt, and I was feeling so tired. But at the end, I was so incredibly proud of myself for finishing. No, I didn't do the full resistance that the instructor requested at the end but I didn't cheat myself either. I now see how people get addicted to spinning. The instructor was great and up beat, the music was awesome, and I burned enough calories to thoroughly indulge during my dinner at Zahav that night (which I mentioned in #2). Definitely check out Body Cycle, your first spin is free!
5. So I pass by a vegan pizza, Blackbird pizza, place all the time. I don't think I have ever had vegan food before, but I wanted pizza and I figured I'd see what this place was all about. I got "pepperoni" pizza and to be completely honest, it wasn't bad at all and really tasted like pizza. The guys who work there were really chill and helpful. I told them it was my first time there and my first time getting vegan pizza. They gave me their suggestions and checked in to make sure I liked it. Not to shabby for a pizza place, right?
6. Philadelphia got it's first "real" snow of 2013 yesterday! Granted it was only about an inch of accumulation, but it was so nice to see the historic neighborhoods blanketed in snow. Here's hoping the snowfall continues to stay to a minimum!
